Occupation: Electronics Assembler

An electronic assembler works behind the scenes to bring together the pieces of equipment we use every day, such as computers, electronic devices containing semiconductors and other electronic equipment used in various sectors, such as automotive, consumer electronics, defense, and telecommunications.

An electronic assembler, also known as a fabricator, operator, installer or technician, mounts, connects, assembles, and secures parts and components of electronic equipment.

An electronic assembler’s primary duties are to assemble electronic parts, such as circuit boards, mount them into larger assemblies or casings, ensure the proper soldering, as well as the fabrication and/or installation of electric wiring in harnesses or bundles, and the testing or troubleshooting of equipment before it is put into or returned to service.

Apprentices will be expected to:

• Operate Machinery and Tooling
• Review and assemble items according to blueprints or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
• Solder
• Inspect installed components and/or assemblies
• Rework or repair parts or assemblies
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Assemble electrical or electronic equipment
• Operate mechanical components in production equipment
• Mark products, workpieces, or equipment with identifying information
• Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications
